Lace

Have you heard about my obsession with lace yet? I just can't get over it. The style and cut of a garment barely even matter anymore, if it's got lace on it, i'm sold! And these charming dresses satisfy my passion just so. I also really miss the days of daisy chains. Who needs a veil when you've got such lovely, fresh flowers ornamenting your hair?

EDIT: Sonja and i must be meant for each other because we just did the same exact post! We are exploring the streets of New York together this summer and living together next fall. This girl is a one-of-a-kind fashionista who was probably born in a cute mini dress. I encourage you all to check out her inspirational blog.

Abbey Lee

MYSTERY GIRL FOUND! Of course it would be Abbey Lee...I only looked at all her photos at nymag just last week, how did i not recognize her in the photo below?. This australia-born model is nothing short of extraordinary, exotic beauty. She is stunning. My words can't do her looks justice, so take a peak for yourself.

By the way, referring back to my Valentino post: the third photo down is also abbey lee. i must have been blind to miss it originally. This girl is everywhere!

Lovelies:

please do me the honor and..

Modern Hippie, who are you?

I need to get this little confession off my chest. I don't know what it is about this girl, but i am absolutely obsessed with her. I saw this photo on Stockholm Street Style a few days ago and find myself going back to the website every few hours just to stare at her. Could it be the lace dress? [im a sucker for anything lace, it goes along with my tulle obsession]. Or the way she wears those layers with such confidence and elegant grace? Or maybe its that piercing stare, glaring at me as if she knows all my little secrets?

Shoulder glamour

I never thought i would be happy to see accentuated shoulders come back into style. I believed some things should stay in the 80's where they were left for a reason! But here they are, staring us boldly in the face looking as fierce as ever and i must admit, im enchanted.

Too Good

Valentino Spring RTW collection. The hardest part was picking just 5 of the 41 wondrous pieces of Valentino's collection. I could spend hours drooling over every little detail in each one of his pieces.

"Beauty Above All"

The title literally translates to "beauty above all", a very fitting title for Russian Vogue. It's nice to see my country of birth has still got its glamour.

Little White Dress

Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere and Rumi of Fashiontoast never cease to amaze me. A little white dress hasn't looked this good since Marilyn.

mia cucina

I have been craving a Neapolitan style pizza for weeks now and finally got all the ingredient together to make one. I didn't follow a recipe, but a pizza like this is so easy to make you wouldn't really need one. I wish i had the time to make my own dough, but i had to settle for a store-bought thin crust.

Ingredienti / Ingredients:
~ pizza dough [from the store or from scratch]
~ 2 baby pears, sliced
~ 1-2 cups sliced baby bella mushrooms
~ goat cheese
~ gorgonzola cheese
~ white truffle oil

Direzioni / Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit
2. Lightly sprinkle truffle oil over dough
3. Spread a thin layer of goat cheese over dough
4. Add sliced pears, then mushrooms
5. Add gorgonzola cheese
6. Again, lightly sprinkle with truffle oil

7. Bake for 10 minutes [place directly on oven
rack for a crispier crust]

And...viola! a delicious pizza!

Tulle me away

I love tulle. Almost anything with tulle makes me purr, especially an elegant tutu like this one. When i was a kid, my mom would drag me to watch the San Francisco Ballet every single year. And as a kid, i absolutely hated the winter for that very reason. With age came a new appreciation for the fine art of ballet. The leaping dancers and all that tulle strikes a comforting cord with me and now i just cant look away. The Swan Lake remains to be my favorite ballet, a classic work filled with leaps, tulle and romance!

rainy day blues

Rainy days are perfect for snuggling up on the couch with your favorite book [or list of blogs ;)] and a cup of herbal tea. It's predicted to rain the rest of the week here in San Francisco and i wish i had the luxury of free time to do nothing but lounge. While my friends are back at school and starting classes, I am getting ready to embark on my journey to prague where i will spend a semester studying abroad. I seemed to have skipped the whole excited stage of preparing for my trip and have settled on terrified.

welcome to the family

Nine West - i cant wait to wear these in New York this summer. They are the perfect pair of heels to wear around the city, and unbelievable comfortable!
my current OBSESSION. these booties are from f21 but only because i can't afford the ones my heart [and feet] truly desire: thank you Acne & Pour La Victiore, my heart skips a beat every time i dare glance at the masterpiece you have created, if only my checking account would let you into my life

i actually bought these last year at anthropologie but since i've only worn them once since then i figured they are still new enough that they deserve a welcome to my family of shoes
side note: these shoes must be lucky because the one night i did wear them out the boy of my dreams and i had our first kiss, one of my favorite memories

Cole Haan - perfect pair of black flats that go with just about anything. i especially love the crosshatching detail on the front

when all else fails

Throwing on a pair of skinny jeans and a tee used to be my fallback look when i thought i had nothing else to wear. Luckily, that time [and my style] has long since changed. For the past few years i can't get rid of this look when i cant seem to find anything wearable in my closet. My drawer is now filled with a variety of different colored and textured tights, a secret little obsession that just keeps expanding. And what better garment to pair them with than a heavy pair of shorts? This is my favorite way to stay warm during the fall/winter seasons.

going raw

To start off the new year right i decided to leave my toxins in the past and attempt a raw food cleanse. The title is a given, you eat nothing but raw food, no dairy, meat, baked goods, or anything processed. A raw food diet is basically an assortment of fresh veggies, fruits and nuts. It may sound a bit dull, but i promise you its delicious. Snacking on nothing but berries and melons? yes please! It was hard to get used to the first 3 days, but my body eventually got used to the smaller portions and adapted quite nicely to all the healthy food i was filling myself with. By the 5th day i lost 6 pounds and was receiving numerous compliments about my radiant skin. I slept better than i have in as long as i could remember and woke up each morning feeling refreshed and full of energy. I noticed myself having more focus and energy throughout the day, too.
Ultimately, i did this cleanse to motivate myself to live a healthier lifestyle. The seven day raw food challenge definitely changed my eating habits. I eat smaller portions and have traded in my bag of potato chips for peaches and mangoes.

the beginning

I have been meaning to start (and and actually update) a blog for some time and have finally decided to just add this little aspiration to my list of resolutions for 2010. This blog is meant to be a healthy outlet to help organize and share the thoughts/findings/conclusions of my wandering mind from the world of fashion to my culinary curiosities and everyday things that make me smile.
